The Welcome message on the artist login says:
Quote:

Thank you for submitting your wonderful images to the PENTAX Photo Gallery. Due to your time and efforts, the Photo Gallery has become more of a success than we anticipated. In an effort to improve the Gallery we will freeze image uploads while we build a new version of this site that will provide a better user experience to our artists. You may delete your images or change your profile, however you won't be able to load new images at this time. The new site is planned to launch in late October. Thank you for your patience. You are still able to delete photos and update artist information.

So we can start building up the archives for late October

Thanks for posting this. I think this is a welcome change, the user experience is not really what it should be and hopefully in the future they will move away from Flash, as it means the site does not work on iPhones and iPads, limiting its usefulness.

That's handy, since every day I see dozens of people using Android tablets

Good news on the PPg front, about time they got rid of that terrible front end. It's not even the Flash I object to, it's the slow-as-molasses useless animations.

Got 18 in the queue. Wonder if they'll get processed.

Yes I've stayed away from the gallery as the interface is really slow and not pleasurable at all. And that's on a regular broadband ADSL connection.

I look forward to the new site.

Fortunately the world does not revolve around Apple products, but I agree that the PPG does need a facelift.

Thanks for the info. I had been thinking of having a go but I guess I'll wait until October now.

I can't imagine why you would want to view the site on an iPhone - or any other smartphone for that matter. An iPad OK, but even then the small screen doesn't do the photos justice imho.

True, but over 100 million sold iPhones does make some people think that it would be advantageous when their site could be displayed on them.

Well, I don't own one, but I have seen some photos on friend's iPhones and it is quite impressive. With 960 x 640 resolution they are certainly good enough for the 600 pixel high PPG pictures.

I was wondering why I couldn't get anything into the gallery so this is useful info

It's not about what kit I've got, its about having the knowledge to use it to maximum potential.

I wonder if the timing of this has anything to do with Ricoh? I can just see it now: "Okay, we have a deal, we'll buy your company for a zillion dollars, but you have to sort out that godawful PPG site or the deal's off"

I've just spent ages voting on submissions and ticked off the most I've ever done in one go. Have I wasted my time?

I did the same... and wasted my time.
