PPG acceptance.

To my surprise "Dottie" just earned her ten minutes of fame in the PPG.

I had not realised when I saw it first that it was taken with the SMC 55mm 1.8. A great lens for manual focus.

Thanks all, for the nice words. Typical as always for PPG it only took 6 days to decide for Dottie.
While another one (water flower in my small drops series)) is already 3+ weeks under review and awaiting accepted/declined.
The "eyes" picture was submitted 2 weeks later.

Well done Martin! It's a great shot which deserves it's place in the PPG.

The 'eyes' shot is brilliant. Really interested in how to get the jade color inside the eyes. Can Martin share a little bit of experience on taking the shot?

About the colour of her eyes..... I would have to ask the cat, because she is born with them. I think the angle of light, time of day and maybe her mood could be of some influence. Sometimes they can glow right up to a amber kind of colour.
This shot was taken two weeks ago at 20:12 while she was hit by the setting sun rays.

The shot self was taken with a 33 year old smc K 1.8/55 (manual focus), who has the nasty habit
of putting many modern optics to shame. IQ wise speaking. I paid € 25 for it.

I converted the raw file in LR 2.4, and only changed saturation to +17 and vibrance to +15. (my standard setting on import) Oh....and I blurred her fur a tiny bit, because it was to detailed and took away attention from the eyes. For me the latter where the key element.

thanks Martin for how to take the shot. I agree the photoshop skills are very important to improve the shot. Hope I have a chance to shoot a pet's eyes.
