The swans have settled for their two cygnets and have left the nest to spend their days feeding on the millstream. Here the two cygnets take shelter behind Dad while an inquisitive mallard cruises by - to be smartly seen off by Dad when it came into his sight. Thanks to Nigel for the tip about sharpening and I promise this will be the last of this season's swan photos.

The light is more favourable here than the previous set Mike, giving softer tones and allowing more even contrast, which suits the white and grey feathers. I can see more fine detail on the swan and in the reeds, so it looks like the sharpening level is good.

Good to see the happy family and a nice end to the story
