Slightly more subtle.....
It is much more subtle - before there was a distinct suggestion of possession about it!
However, I'm not sure you need the dots of light at all.
It's taken with natural light, right? There's already a perfectly natural reflection from a window or something in both eyes.
I love the subdued, peaceful look.To my eyes, it's a very attractive capture, of a not-at-all bad looking baby. Perhaps just a shade more brightness would be better, but I won't quibble there.
So I don't see why you need some faked catchlights at all. Or am I misunderstandig something about the lighting set up?

When I look back now I see how ridiculous they were!
There was a window some way behind and I was experimenting with a basic Metz flash for the first time. I had used bounce for most of the photos, but cannot recall how it was positioned for this shot, I imagine it was directed to the subject.
This is an 'original' version before I bothered tampering with the eyes (now slightly brighter)
Would you leave them as they are?
When I look back now I see how ridiculous they were!
It's easily done.
The best thing, I find, when I can't make up my mind whether I've been messing with a photo too long on the computer, is to leave it till the next day.
I usually take one look, and go 'aaaaaargghhh'
Amazing the difference a fresh look can make.
I'd be inclined to go in there and carefully remove the light dots altogether. They're so small that they don't add anything, and almost look like hot pixels.
Much better now, though. Very nice, in fact. I wouldn't have guessed there was any flash at all, if not for the dots.
Respect to you, btw, for leaving the different versions up. Sometimes, people replace the earlier versions, rendering the thread a bit pointless. Hopefully it'll help someone.

Funnily enough, I loved the first one, but it was only on seeing the subsequent ones that I could see that the light spots were too harsh and not quite right.
I have no doubt we'll be seeing more
