Poor Image Quality with My K20D

I think Pentax are taking the pi** now to be honest.
That is totally ridiculous.

I really want to send mine away for the mark on my sensor to be looked at but Im wondering if I should just put up with it for now.

if you haven't lost faith in the Pentax brand -a refund from Devon Camera and a new body from SRS (complete peace of mind re: customer service) might be the way to go
Totally agree with that idea, can't imagine how frustrated you must be and good luck getting sorted once and for all

Why won't they just give you a brand new camera?

Well if mines not right I will be heading to SRS for a NEW K20D and mark my words if that gives me any problems it's a Olympus E3 for me, I will not be messed about like Steve I need a camera system I can rely on, it's part of my living.

May I point out that if I had gone to SRS I know Chris would have changed it for a new camera there and then, but I expect the Pentax service department to get it right, We will see??

I got another "new" K20D in the post today, a turn around of 5 days including the weekend.
Sounds good doesn't it. Until you see the images this so called new camera chucks out

The shutter count is 880, so not actually new. Also, once again the time and date were already set with a location of Copenhagan.

I will be contacting Devon camera in the morning to see about getting my money back. The only problem now is the serial number is different from on the invoice. I did email them on Tuesday to let know I may require a refund, so hopefully they will have some answers for me.

I also still have had no refund for the postage cost, £36 todate and more importantly there was no letter of apology. This really is unexceptable service.

Tel, At least they've written to you to let you know whats happening. I hope you get your K20D back and working ok. Even if it takes a bit longer than you expected.
Steve,
Gutted for you hope your shop makes it right one way or another. Good luck, and let me know the out come.

Some good news at last. Having emailed Devon Camera (DC from now on) on Monday evening to warn them I might be after a refund, I called them today.
The manager was busy so I told the salesman about the latest fiasco and he took my details and said he would get the manager to call me back later.
When he called he explained that he had been in contact with pentax service for the last 2 days and was told I would be getting a new camera. Now new camera to pentax service isn't a New camera, just a replacement and this is apparently the same with Nikon.Only sales hold new cameras.
Since I had called early he had been in touch with his new pentax sales rep for the south west and discussed my situation with him and the rep said that this was unexceptable and he will arrange a brand new K20D for me.
So DC are going to let me have a new camera from their shop and have the reps replacement when it arrives.Sorted.
I told him I was thinking about changing brands and he said I can do that if I want but he recommends sticking with Pentax as, although I've had a lot of problems they are mainly down to Pentax service and the K20D is very good camera. And at least I dont have to replace all my other bits and bobs.
The manager from DC did point out that if I had gone to them in the first place it wouldn't have gone on like it has.He would have given me a new camera a lot sooner. The ironic thing is the reason why I choose DC was they are local and if I had problems I could go back to them,Which i didn't do.

Well done I am glad you seem to have got things sorted at long last. I do believe in law that if the goods you buy are not suitable for purpose you are within your legal rights to return the item and have it replaced or refunded.

Still water under the bridge now hopefully and you will soon have a spanking new camera that you are pleased and satisfied with.

Thank you for all your kind support. I must admit I was about ready to give up.
I now have a brand new K20D, complete with newly installed firmware. All I need to do now is get out and take some pictures. The funny thing is Im almost to scared incase there's something wrong with this one.
Its gone a bit grey out now so I think it will have to wait til tomorrow.
