Thanks Gary, it was just a single on camera flash in sync as per Nigels flash tutorial, flash on HSS , camera on M mode.Lens was 17-70 sigma.

Another very effective use of this technique Don. I'm very glad to see it is proving helpful ... Certainly it opens up more variety and freedom for outdoor portraits. Here I really like the background, where you've reduced the time value to something very short, allowing the subject to stand out. The flash effect may be just a little strong on this one I feel ... Perhaps a further -0.5 or -1 flash compensation would have given a gentler result.
