There is a wide choice of non-Pentax lenses available to fit your K-r and you will find a long list on the 3rd Part reviews on the US website at the link below:-

Note that many lenses have an additional 'Ricoh Pin' which can cause problems on Pentax DSLR's, but that's another story and you'll find many postings about that on this site !
If you are happy with manual focus and manual aperture setting then you can also use old 42mm screw thread lenses with a PK adaptor ring. I use one with my old Helios 58mm f/2.0 lens and a Pentacon lens I got off ebay.
Best wishes
Peter

I think Peter overstates the Ricoh pin, I'd expect it to be far less than 10% that have it so 'some' rather than 'many'. It's fairly easy to remove but I guess important to check on.
As well as the M42 lenses, T2 mount & adaptall lenses can also be used with readily available adapters (many of the adaptall ones work with auto aperture if you get the PKA adapter.

As long as the Ricoh pin is the rounded type it's not usually
a problem.

Loads of manufacturers made K or KA mounts, either as 'own brand' lenses or as 'independent' lens manufacturers. As stated most of the independent 'KA' lenses also included the Ricoh pin. I've used these lenses on and off for years on Pentax AF film bodies without any problems but when I bought my K-5 I removed all the Ricoh pins as per the instructions on this site: link. This was purely because the cost of the K-5 made this a sensible precaution (and because I found the site above and found it to be an easy procedure).
Note: Some of the independent lenses have a longer baffle around the aperture simulator lever which fouls the powerzoom/SDM power contacts (approx. 5 o'clock on the mount from the front) and prevents the lens from mounting.
The short list is:
Chinon, Cosina, Centon, Ricoh, Sigma, Tamron Adaptall, Tokina, Vivitar but I'm sure there are many more (I think Practika & Zenit even made K mount bodies?).
