I would have to agree. I have seen some nice flash sites, but more often than not, they tend not to be helpful in getting the user to where they want to be (or where you want them to be).
If the Flash program is to help generate a clear intelligent user interface I'm all for it. The extra distractions with many of them tend to make me click the Back or Close button.
Unfortunately, I do not know where to find such plug-ins, but if you find one I would suggest keeping focus on its use by the 'customer' and not just fancy gimmicks.
Good luck.

Hi Will
Yes I agree I suppose I was trying to salvage this overexposed area.
Will I am looking to design a Flash site with music can you reccommend any software other than Adobe or Swish. Swish is not to bad but Adobe is very complex
Cheers Pete

At the moment I am finding my pbase.com account much easier on the eye and much easier to update quickly.

Guys
It really does depend on the quality of the website
For example

Sorry, too tedious to wait....have to agree with George.
My question would be why squander the speed of Broadband? Life is too short and things are too fast these days to hang around waiting for graphics to load.

Strongly agree. Not only too tedious, but even if you let it load (I did), the bloody pictures jump all over the place depending on where you move the mouse. I saw a couple of nice shots before frustration got the better of me.Sorry, too tedious to wait....have to agree with George.
A complete pain, IMO.
Even Matt's gallery, which is _much_ quicker to load, and a lot more usable that that one, doesn't (AFAICT) let you see the images at a decent size, which I find very disappointing, since they're worth looking at. I'd prefer non-Flash even for that.
It gives you nothing IMO, and it absolutely typical of the triumph of form over substance which is increasingly common.

You remind me of the naughty little boy who said " I dont like that" before he has even tried it. How stupid to judge something before you have looked.
If you care to look at the website in detail, the simple presentation the graceful flow of the images that work well with the ambient music all compliment the Professional look Quote " Professional"
Damien is a highly admired Professional photographer who has made a lot of money from his work and can be seen in many galleries and magazines. I’m sure with his reputation that he would not have a website of poor quality.
It maybe down to taste with flash style sites but I doubt we would see many top pros with PBase style web displays

Just noticed more comments in favour of George.
I really dont know what site your all looking at but just select one of the titles ie: Child and sit and watch the slide show without and clicking or distractions

I dont care who it is, anyone who judges something before they have looked must have a screw loose. Its like saying the K10D is rubbish before looking, trying and viewing the results.
"judge not lest ye be judged"
The others never said they turned it off at the begining. You made up your mind before even viewing the actual website past the loading page.
PS having a fast internet connection gets you to the site fast. Unless your patience is none existant.

One of the big problems with Flash, as every sentient being knows, is that Flash sites often take an inordinate time to load.
The fact that the web designer is too incompetent or uncaring to address even this basic issue is a certain sign that there will be other problems when one does eventually get onto the site.
So, the time taken to load is the litmus test. If it takes too long, the site has failed the test, and is not worth further attention.
But I shouldn't have to tell you this. It's obvious, even to stupid people.

PS: Not being a doctor, I don't have even one patient. So in a sense, I suppose my patient IS non-existent.
Rather like my patience, at times.

Pete,
I'm on broadband (about 1.5Meg) and it took about 25 seconds before I could start looking at pictures. The photos were good, and the site looks okay to me once loaded, but that's the point, no matter how good the photos and the overall look of the site, if someone doesn't wait, it's a crap website.
Just because the guy's a successful photographer doesn't mean his website must be good. Imagine you were amongst the however many million using dial-up. How long would you be prepared to wait then? How many people, potential customers, would give up and look elsewhere?

How did I guess you would pick up on a spelling error Mr perfect
I have broadband 2MB which is quite slow compared to some connections but on my browser flash sites load very fast.
Unless you are like a small minority who still have dial up then of course it will be slow and spoil the interactive enjoyment. However I think most folk now have Broadband.
If you dont have it George It might be worth looking at as your missing out on so much.

Pete,
I have an 8Mb link at work and that site was still slow in my book
Too much "fluff" for my liking.
