This certainly acts as a good demonstration of the quality possible with this little camera - I'm not a 'Q kinda person' myself, but clearly it provides supurb IQ in a portable package.
The lighting is very well controlled, nicely lit flowers with just the right depth of shadows and detail retained in the highlights. Also the colours look very faithful.
I'm not very convinced on the composition, there surely are better ways to frame it? (but I don't know the state of the rest of the bunch though or whats off to the right side). And I don't think the black background complements the subject at all. Perhaps a smaller aperture would even up the DOF variation between the flower heads as well.

Thanks guys, I was quite taken with the quality of light in my kitchen, it's the first time I've used the Q using 1:1 aspect ratio.

I very much like the colour one, though I agree that the extra space at the top improves it.
The shades of pink and green change so subtly that the colour adds a great deal - the mono is a pale shadow in comparison, to my eye.

The subject matter of decaying /wilted tulips does nothing for me, but on a technical aspect it's a well captured shot that demonstrates how good the Q can be in the right hands.
Pentax could well have sold even more Q's if you had been in charge of the sample images Ken
