Very nice and clean. Good lighting. But a bit sparse for me. (and nobody eats an apple with a knife and fork)
Perhaps a bit more active food participation? A ribbon of peel? Remnants of a tasty meal, crumbs, etc .
Ingredients spring to mind (herbs , fruit) and if you've never seen them Irving Penn made some interesting food images. Search on flickr for "Irving Penn Food".
There is a black art in food photography in making the food look appetising. Glazes, sprays, colouring etc etc
It depends on the client if they are proper foodies (or artists) or just want a decorative kitchen.

Nice lighting and reflections! Very slick.
But I think doug has a point, and also you might need some lemon juice on that Apple to stop it going brown before you take the shot.
I also think given the sparesness of the shot you need a bigger more 'perfect' apple, and perhaps a fancier knife and fork too.

This is beautifully executed and, as I know only too well, very hard to achieve!
Best wishes,
Andrew

Yet - perhaps the contradiction (eating an apple with a knife and fork) - IS the point, and draws one's attention to the sparseness of the image? I wonder if the utensils are actually rather cleverly positioned, in order to draw the eye to the fruit? Simple yet effective for me...

Spot on that man, on my flickr stream I called this shot, "Healthy Eating" Some good points there though fellas, all taken on board, you really need to underexpose to get this type of shot right.

Really like the shot, however it really depends on how the kitchen is decorated to know if it is appropriate for the setting.

Oh well, went over my simple head.
Here's a version I did of Woilfgang Tillmans "chaos cup". I had to import the water from London to get the scum right. Our water just doesn't cut it. Brew a nice strong cup of tea and away you go. A nice rainy day project.

Oh yes the world of the sliced veg. Take your pic, crop and copy, mirror and bob's your uncle. Not a great example but this was used on the way to another image.

I think it's a great image. The lighting and reflections are great, and the drops of moisture on the knife is a nice touch, as it implies the knife was used to cut the apple rather than just being a prop.
I'm sure your very active imagination can come up with a few complimentary images to go with it!
