Not official by any means.

I believe I can swap to screw drive on my DA* lenses by going back a firmware on K10D.
I think this one should be left to those who know what they are doing or you could be left with an expensive pentax shell!

In my experience, SDM is much quieter and faster (Perhaps not by much)
