I am looking to buy a macro lense and have seen the price of the pentax 100mm climb. I have also seen the sumsung 100mm lens at what seems like bargan prices.

I believe they are the same lens, just dressed differently. Is this true?

Anyone have any experience of the samsung?

They are almost certainly the same. It is possible the lens coating is different, but personally I doubt it.

I agree. I have the Samsung version and you get a nice green/blue refection off the front glass so it has some sort of coating. It just does not say SMC on it which I guess is because this trade mark is exclusive to Pentax.

The lens is not recognised by the Pentax Photo browser so I guess that it writes a different lens id into the exif data. PhotoMe returns a lens id of 4+56+0. I guess this might mean you will not get any auto lens correction with this lens version on a K-7 but I assume that this is probably not needed on a 100mm prime.
