Just come back from a holiday to the Harz Mountains in Germany. One member of the party had a Canon DSLR and I asked which one it was, he said it was an old model without telling me which one. Then he saw mine hanging from my neck. He said, "Pentax, what a great camera!" Later in the week his wife saw it and said the same.
I was thinking, "Why didn't you buy one?"

Was his Canon "swinging" by any chance?

Best regards

Canon as in camera. Your explanation reads like they may have had more interest in you. Maybe just my incorrect take on it though.

I think Pentax the brand is highly thought of by people who were around in the pre digital days when it had a larger share than the "other two" in 35mm slr sales.

You will however have noticed presently as a brand name it's high street presence is pretty much non existent being the domain of the other two.

So either they were being friendly. Or being friendly in a pitiful way thinking you hadn't moved into the digital age, or as i suspect genuinely envious and feeling a bit sorry for themselves in not having done enough research.

Personally I've only met one other Pentax dslr user in 35yrs and that was on St Malo beach a couple of months ago.
