Chris that is your service provider. It has nothing to do with them.

Which browser do you use? - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari??

Hi Gwyn.

It will be the one that Tesco net, use ?.
Tesco net, is the only one I have ever used, and have been with them for many years.
The operating system is “Windows xp“.

Take care.

I would hazard a guess that Chris is using Internet Expolorer as instaled with the OS.

Chris, to expand on Gwyns post;

The Browser is the software instaled on your computer that enables you to view webpages, this will be Internet Explorer, microsofts own browser as instaled with whatever version of windows you have, but its not the only one, as other have mentioned, Chrome, Firefox, Safari etc.

Some browsers may reveal glitches in webpages that other browsers dont see or simply ignore, this is more than likely what your experiencing, even someone with the same browser may get different glitches depending on their version and other "plug ins" that run alongside the browser.

Hope that helps.

OK, yes probably Internet Explorer then, and not the most up to date version of it I suspect.
I tried with Internet Explorer on my desktop (since I don't have it on the netbook) and it still worked fine after pressing cancel in the log in window. But I have the newest IE (whatever that is - I don't normally use it) on the new PC.

Chris - can I suggest you do a search for Firefox or Chrome and download one of those and try that as your browser. All the instructions on how to install them on on the websites of the browsers and they come with a tutorial to teach you how to use them.

Many thanks Alan and Gwyn.

Since my last post I have found the original, Tesco, installation disc in the back of the cupboard, and it is “Microsoft Internet Explorer”, that they use.

Never looked before, as I had it installed, by the computer engineer that installed my computer.

Take care.

These branded IE's are nothing short of a disgrace. I once had Wanadoos version on and it seemed impossible to remove it.

Just install Firefox as the default browser and leave IE alone.

Thanks Algi.

I will get our painter/odd job man to have a look next time he’s here.
He is the computer wiz kid, far to risky for me to start playing.

Take care.

Chris - it is really simple to do. At least have a look at the websites.

I am no computer whiz - I have a tame one downstairs - but even I managed to load Firefox and set it up as my default browser.
With Firefox, and no doubt the others too, you can have useful add ons such as spelling checkers, EXIF readers and the wonderful Adblock Plus which gets rid of all the adverts on a page.
On my netbook I didn't even bother to load Internet Explorer, since under EU rules you can now choose not to have it. I have it still on the PC, as it can very very occasionally be useful.

Thanks Gwyn.

I will have a look, but stand by to send over your tame computer wiz.

Slightly off topic but I really dislike the way Google use Chrome as a way of gathering data about you. Chrome is effectively "spyware". I have, therefore, switched to using "Iron" which is a spyware-free version of Chrome and will run Ad Block Plus.

I agree Kris - but that is Google for you. Big Brother has nothing on Google.
I also resent the way whenever you download 3rd party software (and some drivers!) they seem to have snuck in a download Chrome and install it as my default browser option which you have to unclick if you don't want it.

Haven't heard of Iron (I like the name :wink. Will have a look, though I am very happy with Firefox.
