Pentax UK does it again

Who is running the Pentax UK Website? What language are they speaking? Because at the moment the product range includes 'Digitale SLR Kameras'!

I do not know, but there were rumours that Pentax had ordered extra peanuts to see if it would improve the performance.

Stefan the Dutch don't spell camera with a K, the Germans do, so I would say it is German - the websites are made there after all.

So they are responsible for the appalling PPG user interface then? It is so slow, cumbersome and non-intuitive I no longer bother to look at it.

I notice that I use both version... don't know why though

But yeah, although very good looking, the PPG site is very slow and awkward to navigate.

Pentax UK website is a joke. Just look at the range of DSLR's they show. Admittedly, they do state that some are no longer available. So why list them?

You can still order the Big silver one in the back and two of the smaller silver ones on the right are also still in production and of course the silver limited lenses.

Why not? Information is never wasted.

The one could argue, what about information about their film cameras that are no longer made then ?

They really should move the information for obsolete products to a separate area. Then we can see at a glance what little they actually have to offer the semi pro/enthusiast at the moment.

I notice that they have resurrected a whole raft of 645 lenses. Unless I just haven't noticed them previously.

The mis-information on their site leads one to believe that it is still possible to buy a new K-m in either black or white finish, or a K20D. I doubt that it would be very easy to find a new copy of any of these.

I have no problem with the displaying of older models, as John says information is never wasted, ideal for anyone wanting specs when thinking of buying used.
I do agree the website does seem to be slow in updating information as to availability, unless of course Penta UK know something we dont, maybe there are still K20 and Km cameras out there avaiable new.

Are you sure Stefan - my info was that it had been discontinued completely.

I'm all in favour of them keeping data on older models on the site, however I think the layout could be better. As things stand, when I click through to DSLRs and scroll down I see the K-m, K20D, etc. Could they not be moved to to a "legacy products" section, which would also have links to PDF versions of the manuals?

I have always been impressed that Pentax bother to offer manuals for very old gear like the original KM as free downloads, not many manufacturers go that far!
