I use the AF adapter on a regular basis. It certainly works well with F4 lenses but beyond that I couldn't tell you. With such a long mirror, I would be tempted to use a manual adapter in any case.

Thanks for that, but i have to use autofocus these days my eyes are not as good as they used to be i just can't seem to get sharp focus without it. I intend to buy the 1.7 adapter and use the mirror lens as a stop gap until i can get hold of a good 400mm f4 telephoto. John.

Most (if not all) Pentax AF camera bodies provide focus confirmation in the viewfinder. If the little green hexagon is lit, you're in focus. If the result then appears to be out of focus it's probably just the lens rendering a soft image, rather than out of focus. Try another lens, mirror, or reflex, lenses tend to produce softer results than a normal/decent all glass lens. Thanks for that, but i have to use autofocus these days my eyes are not as good as they used to be i just can't seem to get sharp focus without it. Which camera body are you using?

I am using a k110d. I know about the green focus light, I just find it hard to focus on that and the object i am looking at. As i am mainly photographing wildlife i have to be quick. I think my eyes just can't adapt quick enough to looking close up at the information bar and the target object and vice versa. Infact for me the information bar is to low down in the viewfinder it is hard to see what is going on.
