Pentax SF-7

I'm an SLR virgin. I've bought a s/hand Pentax SF-7 c/w Pentax F zoom 28-80mm lens. I'm used to compact digitals (Nikon Coolpix 770) but am not happy with image quality, hence the change. I think I need to invest in accessories i.e. hood, filters, flash maybe a new lens, but have no idea what type mount the body has or even what I should be looking for re fitting sizes for lens accessories.

Anybody out there please HELP!!!!!

Cheers

Hi,
Have a look through the threads. Just about everyone has their Pentax favourites! The general advice which I endorse is to stay with the Pentax brand. Most who have bought the independants have regretted it. As to the fit Pentax, have stayed true to the "K" mount albeit in a few minor variations. Any of them should work well with your SF7 even the older manual focus ones. The oldest, the K and M series will only give you aperture priority whilst the A series with give you the full range of auto exposures. The F, FAs and FAJs will give you autofocus as well. The very old screw fits will work with an adapter but I wouldn'r recommend them at this stage. The only ones which won't work are the new series of very wide angle digital lenses for the *istD.
Hope this helps

Two essential sites for you:

http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/
http://stans-photography.info/

The only (35mm) Pentax bayonet lenses that won't work with the camera are Pentax-DA. They'll fit, but the image circle won't cover the frame.
