I understood from elsewhere that it is to avoid the "merger" (read take-over), but who knows?

glad to see they are sticking with Cameras. Part of me is sad to see the demise of the measuring equipment branch since I always thought the R300 series was the best low cost total station out there, at least on paper, and that's coming from a die hard fan of Leica surveying kit. Still surveying kit is very cuthroat and Pentax was an even smaller player there than they are in Cameras so it is probably best for them to get out and concentrate on what they are good at.

So far the message is confused, so I guess we wait until a proper announcement is made.
Best regards, John

Pentax are amazing.
The photographic community is awash with speculation about what is happening, so in the hope of finding some enlightenment from Pentax themselves, I looked at the News section of the Pentax Japan website.
And there it is. An announcement today of a new endoscope.
Mind you, could be useful for some of the people on DPReview.

..Some facts and some speculation, but lots to chew on and plenty going on at Pentax, one thing is for sure, I think there is far more than meets the eye where the proposed Hoya merger is concerned and I am not at all convinced it would be good for Pentax if it went ahead.
cheers Steve.
