Pentax Repair

I recently sent my 50-200 to Pentax for a long overdue repair as it has just degraded in image quality over time. I sent all the items they needed including an invoice as proof of delivery/purchase. The service centre is now saying that they did not receive the invoice/proof of purchase and want me to pay £80 to have the £150 lens repaired and that does not include shipping. There seems to be no way to get in touch with a real person at Pentax UK to try and find out what happened to the invoice I sent.

What would be the easiest way to sort this out?

Sounds like a silly question, but have you rung any of the numbers on here?

Yep, just seems to be an automated system which always seems to end at an answering machine :S

Yeah, see what you mean, just tried ringing it myself. Even pressing '0' for the operator ends up with the message "This mailbox is full".

Try sending a PM to PentaxMike from this thread, you never know...

Not sure if he's online often enough or had PM notifications on.

I just sent an e-mail to Pentax asking them how they managed to find all the other paperwork in the box but miss one that was sandwiched in the middle in the most polite way I could. I also asked what would be the quickest way of getting the invoice to them and if they'd accept a scan.

My dealings with Pentax UK have been traumatic, I wont go over it again here, but my 645 was trashed by them and took 6 months to put right. My brand loyalty is so strong/misguided/misplaced I'm still here but if I was new to the brand I'd certainly have gone elsewhere.

It was a copy of the invoice. It was in the box with a CD, set of prints showing the problem and a letter. I should have stapled all that paper together. I can get them an other copy, just seems really odd that they didn't see it.

Hi Tyr,

PentaxMike has left the company....

I have this number - 01753 798183 for Paul Barnett who is the service manager.

Hope this helps - I am happy to speak to them if need be.

hi there,

I live in west london, and work just beyond slough...so drive through the langley Pentax HQ almost every day.

I've been there a few times, and usually speaking face to face with the secretary proves beneficial.

PLease let me know if you need help with the Pentax HQ

Cheers,

Nathan
