To answer a specific question (for the benefit of others too) - the rubber eyepiece does not have any optical elements attached - it is simply a rubber ring to make viewing more comfortable.

I bought one of these recently and highly recommend it. If you shoot low down stuff like fungi you no longer have to lie on the wet ground to see through the viewfinder.
