Pentax Q7

GR is actually 28mm equivalent, but still not close enough as it stands.

Quite right and I knew that but it's frightening how many stupid errors I make these days.

Because when everyone has bought a Q7 they will come out with the Q5 which will probabbly be the same quantum leap as the K7 to K5 was....

If it is...I'll be first in line.
I can't walk the streets of Dar es Salaam with my K5 so my Q is perfect for that.

My main beef with original Q was the small sensor with the high price. Now the price of the original Q has predictably plummeted it's now, IMO, settled into a fun camera at a fun price.

The Original Q is fast becoming a must have. I must buy one before the price shoots up again

The Q7 still looks to be from the dark ages compared to other marques. In built wi fi,fold out screen, OLED for better bright light viewing. Maybe a touch screen. I would like one but it just doesn`t cut the mustard! too little tech and too much price. Come on Pentax, wake up to what others are doing with their CSC offerings.

The Q7 isn't for those things cedricd, its profile is quite different. The miniscule size means limitations on adding all and sundry, but the advantage is that a whole kit of camera and lenses and bag comes in at less than 600g. There's nothing quite like it in the market place and people are enjoying very much what it is, without worrying about what it isn't.

John, I am weighing up a CSC and it`s a shame in my opinion that Pentax have yet to compete on an even playing field with other makes. OK it`s a tiny bit of kit but there's the original Q, the Q10 so where is the next generation? The X5 has a tiltable screen and for the type of photography that it lends itself to it`s so useful. Actually, it`s essential I think.

I would like a Pentax but they are not encouraging me with their lack of what are becoming standard items. Confusion reigns but it looks like a Samsung with an Android system is pretty Kosha. Who knows?

Built in wifi, GPS, touch screen etc?
If I want a good camera I'll buy one, If I want a computer I'll buy one.
I don't want some electronic hybrid mish mash 'jack of all trades-master of none' Android, Blackberry or whatever other ridiculous name they come up with!.
Just look what's happened to mobile phones....they went from a telephone the size of a house brick to a minaturized wonder (Great!) and are now a do-it-all, phone/camera/electronic book/alarm clock/GPS system/typewriter/heart rate-pulse monitor/music playing gadget the size of house brick!

My Nokia 3310 and Seimens M35 don't have those things. Am I missing out?

I assumed Cedric meant one of the Samsung NX cameras. Not a phone! I have a Sony NEX and think it's great, but I wished Pentax made something similar.

The Q looks great fun but it's the MX1 which would get my money.

Off to New York in August, Once in a lifetime trip, costing me a fortune but leaving my K5's at home and just taking two Q's, an original and a 7 and also my new MX-1 which I will be buying over there.

Having used the Q system abit now, I feel safe in the knowledge they will see me right for this type of trip, I will be selling my Q10 on here in the next week or so to fund the 7, but keeping the original Q.

Hopefully my fisheye lens which I haven't really found a use for, only for abit of fun will come into its own in a cramped city.

You might want to check out the price of th MX-1 here too. With cashback and free Billingham pouch from SRS (and two year warrantee from pro dealer) it may compare well with American deals. To be honest, I'd probably just take the MX-1 to NYC......
