Pentax Promotionals

SRS Microsystems, one-time sponsor of this forum, was my supplier of choice for some camera batteries (reasoning: get 'em before they go the way of the K series cameras for which they are intended). When they arrived, I was surprised to find some more things in the box. And here they are. A serious attempt to tempt me even though they don't have he 17 in stock? Or getting rid of surplus bits and pieces to someone who clearly has Pentax gear? The pen is useful. The sunglasses fit over my varifocals so might make a public appearance. I'm still trying to work out what to do with the ball - squeeze it to remove the stress caused by the end of K mount cameras??

If you have any Pentax promotionals, feel free to show them here. One day, it might form a valuable historical archive. Looking forward to seeing more Pentax promotionals from the days when there was something to promote... .

Stocking up on batteries is a good idea.

At one time I had a stash of Pentax promo material (I remember a memo block with Pentax printed on the sides) but that is long gone. I have a few brochures from the M series era and should dig them out as a reminder of Pentax glory days.

Yep. What prompted me to get them was noticing that some of my batteries were over 10 yrs old and not holding their charge like they used to. And if your batteries die and you can't get replacements, the camera is as good as dead even if it is still like new.

I see SRS are out of stock!

Park Cameras have some so will pick up there and also check the state of all the others I already have which are ancient.

The ball seems a strange item for promotional stuff. You could throw it for your dog and snap photos of it chasing after it and bringing it back...

If Ricoh do bring out a new DSLR, perhaps the batteries will be kept the same format, after all, all camera batteries are broadly the same anyway so it would very likely cost them nothing to maintain it.

I recently saw for sale a very old Asahi Pentax tie pin with the original Asahi logo. Quite cool but I'd never use it.

I might if I had a dog that could be bothered with it. He just looks at me with a look that says "What's that silly human doing?". I once tried to tempt him by giving him a treat when he brought a ball to me. Then he decided that the ball was of no value to him whatsoever so best to ignore it and go straight for the treat. He's not stupid!

Yes, batteries are a concern. There are still knockoffs available but I look at my own stock (which I religiously rotate) and I find that the original Pentax items (expensive!!!) are still going strong whereas I am starting to discard the non branded ones that are far younger.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Yes. I got a couple of knock-offs years ago. One of them lasted a year and then held almost no charge, the other did better but never anything close to the power I got from the original that came with my K-3. That original is still going strong and I have another genuine one I bought years ago which is also absolutely fine.

Those D-Li90 batteries definitely surprise me. They've not changed for years yet seem to be 'flagship' standard even today.

Says a lot considering phone batteries are constantly having to strike a balance between size, weight and capacity. Maybe a move back to simpler times could be nice?
All the gear with no idea
