Pentax or Samsung

Hi Richard,
Pentax don't own Samsung, they just went into some sort of partnership which presumably entailed a lot of knowledge and technology sharing, and resulted in the K10D/GX10. I suspect all lenses from Samsung will essentially be rebadged Pentaxes (arguably without SMC), and I doubt they will offer anything in this area that Pentax don't.
I suspect there's a 'Samsung User' forum somewhere, but as this is fundamentally a Pentax user forum, it would seem a bit strange to include Samsung, especially as the range may well diverge (the compacts are already different).

I read in another magazine review that the Samsung came out on top. Should'nt Pentax be concerned about this or is it just a load of hype ?

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

My copy of Practical Photographer dropped thru the letter box today and they have a head-to-head test. Findings are that they perform the same but the £100 price difference makes Samsung better value...
The same mag also marks down the 100mm D-FA Macro in terms of value...
Pentax ought to be concerned as the man on the street or new DSLR user may not be as swayed as us by wanting to stick with Pentax.
If you were totally new to photography what would you choose? Pentax brand or £100 spare in your pocket...
From a personal point of view, I'm very happy with my K10D and what I paid for it - I for one wouldn't have bought Samsung... Brand loyalty, brand snobbery? Yes, I guess so...
