Hi

I have had my Optio 330 now for 1.5 years and have never had a problem with it. Ihave just moved from ME to Xp Pro and for some reason cannot move over photos to a file. Every time I do it it says that I have an I/O device error. Ihave reinstalled the drivers but to no avail has anyone got any suggestions?

Here's a response from a technical person at Pentax UK. I've only come across the I/O device error when there has been a problem with the USB cable or the connection. I would guess that the cable may have been damaged at some point. The damage may not be seen externally but if the internal cable or connections become broken or loose the data may not be properly transmitted to the PC causing this fault.

There is also the possibility that if the PC has been upgraded to XP, rather than replaced with an XP machine, then the PCs configuration may not be appropriately set for XP. Some of the possible issues can be resolved by installing the latest XP service pack from: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q322389

It is also important for you to make sure you are using the XP driver instead of the 98/ME/2000 driver that came on the CD-Rom with the camera. This can be downloaded from: www.pentaxusa.com/digitalupdate. This will not cause the error described but will prevent confusion later.
Hope that helps

Hi Pete

Thanks for your reply. I found out it was my upgrade to XP.
