Hi there, I have a Pentax MZ-S its in good working order apart from the built in flash doesn't fire, it hasn't really bothered my, but I thought i'd reach out to Asahi photo to see if they can repair it but they've told be they don't repair this model due to the age and lack of parts, does anyone if there is someone who could repair this - I assume I may have to send it to Japan or just leave it! Thanks

Not sure, I assume so but haven't checked since it still has the protective cover, but don't really want a flashgun as I quite like the relatively small size and weight of the camera as it is.

I presume you have confirmed lack of operation by putting fresh batteries in the camera? Always find that when a flash hasn't been used for a while it throws a tantrum (not just limited to Pentax) and takes a while for the innards to get up to speed.

Failing that, consider a compact Pentax (or compatible) flashgun, more power but not as bulky as the AF500FTZ (which is also prone to tantrums),

Metz 45 CL-4, AF500FTZ. AF540FGZ.
Some Mamiya and some Nikon, and a Canon T70.

Thanks, yes even with fresh batteries it doesn't want to play - in fact it gives the low battery symbol but when you switch on and off that clears up and camera seems fine . .. just old electronics I guess!
