Stu,
I know this may be not helpful for your demand, but you might need to reconsider this. PB mount is similar to PK, but back element to film plan distance is closer than PK lens, in this case, you have to grind certain thinkness of PK mount to enable infinity focus as far as i heard from a friend of mine. it would be easier to get a Pentacon 50mm in screw mount, to be used with a PK adaptor.

Hi Brightstone
Thanks for that info - once I realised my error I looked this up also - most people seem to refer to the distance between the flange and the sensor/ film plane - the differences quoted seem to vary ever so slightly - however each person seems to refer to being able to make an adapter with a few mentioning changing the mount itself.
As I am landed with this lens rather than put it back on ebay curiosity got the better of me and so I decided to give it a go.
The PB mount is smaller when sat on the table that the Pentax mount to what looks very close to the differences in the size quoted so it would seem that the difference could just be in the mount - being a cynic I would imagine that many lenses that are issued in different mounts will be the same lens just a different mount so my first dabble with experimentation will be to attach the mount and check how it works - if inifinity focus cannot be achieved I will way up the how often it will be used against the shortening of the mount issues.
I suppose I am just giving in to the need to fiddle with anything remotely mechanical.
Regards
Stu.

If your lucky the rear mount of the pentacon will just be held on by a few screws allowing you to take it off and replace with a PK variant.
I've heard of many people doing this sort of remounting, and suspect one of my lenses (with its original CY mount missing) was from a failed attempt at this - I hope to use it on a T/S bellows if enough is missing.

Hello Petrochemist
The rear mount is only held on by a few screws but has 3 electrical contacts that are proving a little hard too remove - I have a few options - once I recieve the mount/ lens kindly supplied by Dougf8 noted above I will decide how to proceed.
But I will let you all know how it goes smiles or tears
Cheers

Due to a monumental bit of stupidity by me I ended up with a Pentacon Practicar 50mm f1.8 due to a bidding error I had bid on an incorrect item and ended up with the Praticar B mount
Any way it seesm to be a half decent bit of rebranded Zeiss glass for less than £7 so I am willing to tread where others have failed (according to google) or maybe some have managed.
Having had a play I reckon I can make a manual k mount fit - the one from my Vivitar 28mm f2.8 serial no: 28XXXX would seem to fit with a little modification however I am willing to try any of the PK manual mounts from any lens.
So if you have a defunct lens or just a pk mount lying around you don't want please let me know and we can see if we can come to some cash agreement for it.
Cheers
