Pentax M42 2X Teleconverter?

Just got my Spot's (SP and SPII) take from Eric Hendrickson in Tennessee, and am VERY happy. Thank's to this forum for the lead, and I humbly add my rave to Eric's already impressive list of supporters.

Now for my latest query.

I'm trying to ensure that all my glass is either Super Multi or SMC coated.

Until I'm able to collect all prime lenses for my Screw Mount collection, I'm using a 2 X converter for the odd difficult shot. I've searched wherever I can think of for a Pentax version with no luck - leaving me to conclude that Asahi didn't produce one. (Why would they?)

If I'm wrong - please set me straight as usual. If I'm correct, what would you folk recommend as the next best thing? I see quite a few Vivitars?

Thanks and Cheers!

I've always been happy with my Tamron BBAR MC. K mount I know, but they may have made a screw version.

If you needed to make a 200mm lens out of a 100mm, for example, you might well get better esults by using a tripod and fine-grained film and enlarging the centre of the 100mm shot.

Personally, I have never been happy with the results from teleconverters, although I do agree that they can have their uses.

Thank's, Gents.

I agree that bumping a lens up is not ideal, and I plan to eventually own good Pentax long lenses.

Meanwhile off to eBay.

Thank's Drew.

Lovely converter that - but not a screw mount!

I'm beginning to accept that they never exsisted for M42.

Sob.

Or is it S.O.B.?

Of course they existed (and still exist) for screw-mount lenses:

Goerge,

Thank's for the lead - seems a lot of companies made/make them - I have a Royal. But I'm looking to see if I can find one made by Pentax. I'm hoping that Multi Coating will help with light loss (2f) and quality loss.

I may be on a useless quest and should just concentrate on saving my money to invest in good telephoto primes.

Cheers

I beg your pardon. I'd lost track of the fact that you wanted an SMC one.
