Some sources seem to think mid May !
It would be nice if Pentax could comfirm an actual date to end the speculation.

Can anyone please explain why the huge demand ? What are we going to gain from these lenses ?? I know they are sonic I believe and quiet but what else can we expect.
Has anyone seen any example shots ??

It would be nice, but I think they have found themselves in the same position they had with the K10D - low prices have led to higher than anticipated demand. Some sources seem to think mid May !

Right now they are anxiously counting the orders, and finding they don't have enough stock.
Still, better that than lots of stock and no orders. And given the fact that these are still expensive items, despite being much cheaper than the lenses they are replacing, it suggests to me that Pentax are building up a nice user-base of serious togs rather than just happy snappers.
Which must be a good thing. Also, if they find that aggressive pricing leads to lots of sales, it is a good omen for the price of really serious glass, like a new, fast, 200mm macro. And a new, fast, 500mm.
Well, we can dream. But I never expected the K10D to be half as good as it is, for the price.

Pete,
Ned Bunnell has promised the Pentax community some sample photographs a soon as he has production versions of the two lenses.
This was theoretically going to be post PMA during his holiday in Mexico.
Nothing so far but keep checking his website for an update.

2 major clues, F2.8 max aperture, and the * suffix means they will (probably) be superb lenses, albeit for DSLR only.

I was originally told that I would have my lenses mid-March. When I spoke to Pentax yesterday they changed the availability to May. I really don't know why.

The reason for the delay is that they don't have their plant in Vietnam ready.
Pentax Germany said so.
They think that full production can start in June.

There has been a massive demand for those specific lenses.
I guess we will have to be patient.
