I've just had a look at the Pentax Lens Roadmap and realised something.
In the future lenses section there are 4 lens:-

DA* 60-250mm F4 - this is now available
DFA 645 55mm F2.8 - now available
DFA 645 Ultra Wide - the 25mm is now available
DA Super Telephoto - will this be the next available???

Fingers crossed

I hope so then we can stop moaning about them not having one and start moaning about how much it costs...

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

£5 Per mm if it's a 400 F5.6
£10 per mm if it's a 400 F4
£20 per mm if it's a 400 F2.8
And god knows if it'll even be a 400...

With the Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 promised soon we'll have too many to choose from

The list is from March 2009. They take their time for the lens. maybe that is why everyone is moaning? Close to two years announced but nothing so far.
Would really look forward to something in the range of 400mm or longer. WR preferred!
Kind regards

It's nice to be nice!

Pentax K-5 with D-GB4 Grip, to many lenses to mention by now (serious LBA by now), TC's, Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW, Manfrotto 028 & Redsnapper RS-283 with various Heads plus various Camera Clamps (I collect them). Pentax AF 360FGZ, Pentax AF 240FT, several Metz 45 CT-1 & 5 with stands and 'Blow Up' Soft Boxes, Flash Triggers, and various Macro gear.

As mentioned under Mike's post of "now this is what" you can get a 500mm f/4.5 now from Sigma. How much longer glass do you need?

Best regards

The Sigma 500mm F4.5 that is currently available in Pentax mount isn't HSM, I refuse to pay that sort of money for old technology.
I'll wait for the Pentax Super Telephoto or until Sigma release the 500mm F4.5 with HSM.

That's a good enough reason. Hope you don't have to wait too long.

As an after thought, the Canikon versions are HSM. Had Pentax introduced SDM earlier, the Pentax fit version would be HSM so can't really blame Sigma for old technology as that technology was, at the time, used by Pentax.

Personally, I don't (and there are things like the A* 1200mm about if I did ) but wouldn't it be nice to have some choice in these matters?

Yes. More choice and less delay.

IIRC Hoya have not been updating roadmaps at all since they took over pentax, so I would take this with a pinch of salt and not get your hopes up.
Having said that, 3 out of 4 on the future list ain't bad, so you never know !

That lens map is almost two years old and has been invalid for some time.

Pentax no longer published lens maps nor do they make known future releases until the actual announcement date.

Why has it been invalid? 3 out of 4 of the future lenses have happened I just hoping the 4th will appear.
There's always someone out there that just wants to dash your hopes.

There was a statement from Pentax that the map was invalid a year ago. Blame them rather than the messenger for "dashing hopes". Sheesh!

To be fair there are at least 2 lenses that have happened since that roadmap was published that weren't mentioned on it (WR Macro and DA 35 f2.4).

Surely as they've been released before the DA super-tele indicated they would be mentioned on the roadmap too, no?
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.
