Pentax Lens Prices Dropping?

Hey everyone,

I've just been looking around at a few lenses, due to my LBA.

And since I bought my K5 a few months back, there seems to be a general price drop across a lot of the Pentax lens line up.

Check out Camera price buster to see what I mean (click on a lens and check out the graphs) here: http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/pentaxaccessories.html

The 35 Macro and 16-50 have dropped £50-75 since I bought my K5. But woah! £200 drop on the 50-135mm since Jan and the 43LTD going for £669 now, £70 off the 17-70 f4

Wonder if the price drops on DA*'s and SDM lenses mean they'll be refreshed soon? Just speculation from me of course, but i'd love to see a new version 16-50mm personally.

Bottom line is, the price drops are great for all us consumers - this post's just a heads up to everyone

PS - great to see SRS's prices being very competitive too, most cases they're the cheapest, would definately recommend them as I had top class service off them in the past.

But then again I tried to buy the 35 Macro at SRS last weekend but Chris was out of stock; he seemed to think the price would be going up whenever the next delivery turned up.

I will be able to supply a few more at the current price.

Pentax have been doing some special pricing for certain lenses recently which will hopefully continue for a while, hence the recent reductions in some prices.

Chris - looks like i better think quick and pick up a lens while pentax has these prices for you. hmmm for summer it I guess I'm looking to expand at the wide end... might have to drop you or the store directly a PM/email about a possible trade in soon (or lower the price I'm listing my 31LTD at here)... but then I really love the 31LTD.... decisions decisions...

Watching this one at the moment...the price has to drop slightly in these difficult economic times...

This lens was £30 cheaper recently, Chris???

It would make sense from a marketing perspective, IF Pentax, has the supplies, then a big lens sale, combined with it's already reasonable camera prices, could push sales and gain market share while other Japanese manufacturers are struggling to recover from quake damages and supply issues....

I don't advertise wedding services in Feb, March, and April, but do offer a lower price deal during the "Buying season" but come May, June and July, the sale is over. My reasoning is this this.... most of our work comes word of mouth, anyways, and competing toe to toe with guys that price thier services so low thier businesses are unsustainable is foolish... so any Bride that shows up looking for a last minute photographer (had one last year, thier $350.00 photographer went out of business a few weeks before thier wedding date) won't balk at the price.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.
