I bought the DA rather than the DAL with the kit. Same optics but plastic bayonet and no quick focus ring on the kit one. Bargain if you don't mind that!
Mind you now I've seen those Wheatear pics with the F4 300mmm prime on here I now know what telephoto I want!

Either version of the 55-300 is a bargain at the price, optically speaking. Unless you are the rare photographer who has no use for a telephoto lens I'd buy it for sure.
