When I bought my first K5 it was lower than any on-line price in the USA (US$1,250) about 3 months after it came out. I bought my second one a month ago for under US$900 (GBP580).Frogfish wrote:

There is a camera shopping mall (3 buildings x 6 floors) at Luban Rd / Xie Tu Rd, Shanghai (20 mins from downtown). I buy 90% of all my cameras/lenses from there (the Pentax shop at the back of the ground floor in the first building, not the one next to the escalator (but that seems to be fine too).

As long as it is NOT made in the UK, we can all sleep at night!

There's a company in Shanghai, called CHINACHEAPWHOLESALE (www.chinacheapwholesale.net) that sell K5's at approx £425-£450. They claim that it is genuine Pentax. As you also live in Shanghai, it might be worth you taking a look, then let us all know of your experiences with their service. Could be a lot of members here interested in buying if their goods are the "real deal"..!!
My be not Steven, add duty which can be 0 to 85%+vat and handling it could cost a lot more than you think. There's a company in Shanghai, called CHINACHEAPWHOLESALE (www.chinacheapwholesale.net) that sell K5's at approx £425-£450. Don’t knock it. I was carrying out power distribution work at a high tec satellite communications site a few years ago, we were contracted to a well known British communications company, all their named equipment on site.
One afternoon a number of very smart booted and suited Chinese gentlemen turned up. I joked with the site foreman, that they were there to see how it was done. The reply, no it is all their equipment and they are carrying out an inspection of the installation standards. (He was not joking).
Take care.
