Pentax K5 focusing issues

Hi, I am hoping somebody out there has had the same problem as me and knows how to solve it! Recently I have noticed my K5 has started hunting a lot when autofocusing, it seems to be happening on different lenses and is getting to be a bit of a pain, most recently I was at a bird of prey centre and struggled to capture birds in flight where previously I have managed ok. I am by no ways an expert but I know when there is a problem. I recently tried taking some macros shots outside and most the time the autofocus could not even find the subject I was focusing on but the same lens on my father in laws camera worked fine.

Has anybody got any ideas please?

Thanks

Lee

It sounds as though the camera needs a service / calibration. Focus issues with K-5's are well documented, but usually if you get a 'good 'un' it stays good. It's nigh on impossible for anyone on here to say exactly why yours is not performing as well as it did.

My suggestion would be to send it off to a reputable repairer, I'm sure someone will tell you the best company for this.

had to have the AF recalibrated on mine when i had one, moved to a 11s now, fortunately under guarantee , it would have cost £82 otherwise but that was a couple of years ago.

Don't forget PU Plus members get a 20% discount on servicing from JPS. Download the approriate form.

My K-3 is in with Johnsons for service & adjustment, and I forgot to fill in the form and so followed your link to try to get it.

However, the link above sent me to the PU Membership Discounts page, which in turn links to the Johnsons site via this link - but nowhere can I find the form to download! I then phoned the Johnsons main number to find out where the form is, but the lady (Paula Tidwell) I spoke to had no idea where/how to obtain the form - she could only give me a phone number at Pentax UK itself.

So, how do I get the form (it's a £200+bill, so the discount is substantial!)?
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Another issue: my Pentax Plus Member Number as I need this for the Discount Form?

This page states
"What is my membership number?

When logged in there is a box towards the top right-hand corner that has your username next to your avatar. Your membership number is displayed next to this. "

However, I am logged in and I can see my avatar and username, but NOT my membership number, and I can't find it in my Profile (etc.) - so where do I find it?

The membership numbers seem to have been dropped, so I'd just quote forum name.

The form is here: https://www.pentaxuser.com/static_files/PUservice.pdf

Thanks - I have now downloaded the form, filled it in and emailed it to Johnsons, as outlined to me in a phone call to them earlier today.

I have also explained to them about the membership number not being shown on the website or anywhere else, and why I gave my username on the form instead.

Kind Regards

I have now found where the PentaxUser Plus Membership Number is given - it is at the bottom of the Paypal receipt for the subscription!

Crikey! Hidden in a disused loo in the basement with a sign on the door saying "Beware of the Crocodile" then.....

That's the Display Department.

Bit like "Stargate Command" in Cheyenne Mountain then (it's actually a broom cupboard with that sign in the real life Cheyenne Mountain NORAD command centre)!
