Hi everyone please can someone tell me how to clean the mirror on a pentax k10.My mirror is quite clean there are a couple of dust specs on it but apart from that its great.I just wondered for future reference.I try to stay away from it as much as possible because i know its a delicate piece of kit.I am also thinking of purchasing a focusing screen does anyone know if i would benefit from the change or am i bored with too much money i dont know.Any replies gratefully received,

As a bit of dust on the mirror has no effect on the images it's best to leave well alone. As you say, the mirror mechanism is very delicate. Any misalignment will cause problems.

So just forget the dust and look perhaps to some more lenses, or maybe upgrading to the K20D, both of which are worthwhile pursuits.

Mirror: as John said, leave well alone.

Focusing screen: two advantages can be (a) having a grid to help get everything straight (good for buildings) or (b) having a split screen if you do a lot of manual focussing (good for macro). Mixed reviews on cheap screens, katzeye gets good reviews but cost three times more than my 50-200mm lens from Jessops will cost me if it ever turns up.

If you need neither of those features, save your money for a new lens.

Cheers, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
