IF stands for internal focusing, in practical terms it means the lens stays the same length when focusing and the front element does not rotate

Lilly,
No problem. "IF" is Internal Focussing. Should be quick as anything and absolutely wonderful on the K10D.
My SMC-F 100mm/f2.8 macro is unbelievable on the K10D!!

Lilly,

IF = Internal Focus which means the filter end of the lens does not rotate when focussing. This has two main benefits, you can use a circular polariser and it won't turn, and you can fit a 'petal' shaped hood rather than a round one.
