Just woke up to that one, you beat me to it K10D!
Back of the camera looks a little cramped which leads me to believe it's quite small, I think there is however a pretty clear line where your thumb will sit to avoid accidentally hitting buttons, so it might be perfectly fine? Plenty of buttons which I also like, hmm Not planning on buying another body this year but I could be tempted into this one, spec dependent of course but it could be the perfect foil to my K3...

There seems to be a lot of activity going on! Pentax have been busy it seems. I'll look forward to seeing this one as well, it seems to have the articulated screen that many have been asking for over recent years.

It's the one from the glass cabinet at the last trade show but now with a model name on it. K50 replacement presumably.

Perhaps they will next week have the next big thing in a glass cabinet. A WR DC motored replacement for the 12 - 24 would make sense given they've covered telephoto now. How about a 10mm Ltd prime?

Certainly looks interesting and much more presentable than the K-S1.

I used to ponder the moveable screen when I was choosing between Nikon & pentax but felt that build quality and the feel of the camera in your hand were better indicators.
Have never had a situation yet where I have missed an articulated rear screen.

I´m not planning on upgrading for a couple of years from the K-3 hopefully all these new trends will be standard by then or history.

I have this niggling feeling we may see a K-3II ... no idea why.

It's a very good looking camera for my type of shooting which includes low level macros. Yes there are a few things I wish they would change from my K-30 such as move the lv button back to the right hand side like my K-r, plus give me a separate ae-l and af button. However I know I can never get a customised camera for me so I'll compromise....
I was reading some reviews on the K-S1 (which I dislike) and they do rave about the improved AF speed, better resolution and improved viewfinder over the K-50 so I'd expect these all to be on this new model.
Looks like my K-r and GX-10 are going to have their last winter with me.... Although I was planning on trading them in for a Canon 70D anyway but maybe that will change.
I suppose the shutter will be as jarring as my K-30 though and not the softer tone of my K-r.

dang, i have only recently bought an ME Super!

i am getting confused by the releases, but it is the trend of the industry - new models before the current ones have really finished their run and the constant gadgetry.

i do hope the 'trickery' fad will end and there will be a 'proper' bog standard camera - no video, no articulated screen - but i can't see that happening, which may be why i have reverted to film a lot.

i got a K-30 when it was released (i'd broken my K200d and needed a replacement and couldnt afford to upgrade) and it's a cracking camera, but i still prefer the K100d's image quality and still use it regularly.

saying that, the interval shooting mode on the k-30 has been great for playing with time-lapse. maybe we can have customised cameras! now that would be good.

It looks like this was what was assumed to be the K60/K70 begging the question what will happen to the K-S1 as it seems too early to be binning that.

So is the 2015 / 2016 line up to be K-S1, K-S2, K-3, FF or

K-S2, K-3, FF

Either way the K50 looks like it'll be shown the door.

My first digital camera was a Canon G2 in 2002 which had a fully articulated screen, and I really liked it. I especially liked the fact you could shut the back with the screen inwards so that the screen was in no danger of damage in an over-stuffed bag. If it is as flexible as that screen it is a great bonus for the sort of work I do, e.g., photographing artefacts on a copy-stand.

Looking at the size and weight of the K-S1and the fact that it is not weather sealed, I see it more as the logical successor to the K-r not to the K-50. That would leave us with:-

K-S1, K-50, K-3, FF and 645D

Indeed you did Steve and they were posted prior to my post.

I would have had no way of knowing as your post was on page eight of the thread and I very rarely get past page four of a thread these days unless it is of interest to me and as the opening image shows it is a not a K3 replacement and not FF, I didn't bother reading into the thread.
