pentax k-r

hi all, just bought a pentax k-r with 55-300mm twin lens kit...if you have a minute, please add something about my purchase...good or bad, i dont mind..just getting into it at the moment. any tips???

No personal experience of either, but all the reports I've seen are that the k-r is an outstanding camera and the 55-300 a cracking lens. This lens is next on my wish list. Enjoy the new kit

Hi and welcome to the forum. Don't have a K-r but the 55-300 is very good. As for tips, just start using your new kit you will find out about it as you go.

We're all biaised about Pentax on here but see what I have posted on my portfolio on here as to what you can achieve.

A KR since my May holiday in Greece replacing a KX before that. I love it!

I have the DA version of the 55-300 which has a metal bayonet and a quick view focus ring but otherwise the same optics as your kit version. As with all modern Pentax lenses you have choices of in camera corrections to make the optics even better!

Hi Bal, just seen your first uploaded picture, welcome to the club! I'm a fairly new member too but finding my feet now. Like bforbes I don't have a K-R (have K-X) but I do have the 55-300mm and can only say this is a fantastic lens. Great colour / contrast and pin-sharp too. Where did you manage to get the K-R with the twin lens 55-300 kit? A mate of mine at work has just bought the K-R but could only get it with the 50-200mm twin lens kit.

hi David, nice meeting you. i enter this forum as a complete novice so it will take me a little while to get familiar with photography terminology. yes many places only do the 200mm kit but if you log onto simplyelectronics.net you will find the 55-300mm kit. i only paid £499 which is an excellent deal knowing that you can pay more for the 200mm kit. funny thing is i logged on earlier and it seems to have gone up in price (black in colour), but pink/white k-r's where still at that price.
ps when i build a little confidence, im hoping to put another pic up soon
