Pentax K manual focus 100mm f4 Macro: comments?

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a Pentax K 100mm f4 Macro manual focus lens. I think it goes to 1:2 (0.5 magnification).

Any comments from experienced users?

They regularly appear on eBay.

They are superb lenses and any of the versions will give good service. The A version will be more useful with DSLRs.

At present (and for the foreseeable future) I will be using it with a film slr (the Asahi Pentax KX)

For the KX the SMC Pentax-M 100mm f4 Macro would be perfect and will cost less than an A version.
