Pentax K lens setting on Pentax K-5 camera

I'm now the proud owner of a Pentax K-5 camera, and I've just set it up to accept old non-digital PK lenses, as per the handbook, just to try out my old 400mm and 400/600mm lenses on it. No problem with that!

However, as I will only be using these lenses occasionally, what I want to know is: "Can I leave the camera setting ready to accept them without affecting the performance of the camera when using the new digital lens?"

Never understood why it's not enables as default tbh.

The only thing I can think of is maybe because it's not a fully functional setting and requires some user knowledge.

As default, a lens without an "A" setting or incorrectly set off "A" will not enable the shutter to be fired, thus warning the user to check.

Maybe but it seems to be one of the more common questions from new Pentax users. I doubt you would see so many asking if it should be turned off.

Thank's for your speedy replies.

No doubt I will be visiting this forum a few times in the near future, whilst getting to grips with the workings of the K-5

I didn't have these problems with my old Pentax LX camera!!!! LOL
