Pentax istDL lens not focusing

Remove the batteries from the camera and charge them fully.
Make sure you haven't inadvertently knocked the AF knob onto manual.
Remove the lens and put it back on, making sure it has seated properly.
And yes, any K-mount lens will fit any K-mount body (which includes your *ist DL).

Give all the mount contacts a bit of a clean also.

Any Pentax lens, yes. Have to be careful with the odd 3rd party lenses though. I have a Soligor where the rear element is fine on a film body, but projects too far into the body on my DL. Also how many posts have we seen concerning the removal of ( I think) a certain Ricoh lens.
Not being picky, just adding a little detail for the OP.

Also - will my old lenses from my K1000 fit the istDL? Is it the same K fit?
