There were 2 special lenses in M42 for UV and IR. The Ultra Achromatic Takumar 85mm F4.5 and the Ultra Achromatic Takumar 300mm F5.6. Both had special filters available for IR work. Where you would ever find either of them is anyone's guess.

I think the M 28mm f3.5 had markings for IR on it, I know i had no hotspot issues when shooting IR with it.
I know what i like, If not always why.

From the Kolarivision list, the old DA 18-55 AL II kit lens works for me with a converted Pentax K-r :

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

There was a German (I think) chap who posted on the mflenses forum that specialised in UV and IR photography. He had those special Taks... and a whole pile of other stuff from other manufacturers.

I drifted away from there because they only seemed to want to talk about lenses with German names...

most of these taken on K5iis with Hoya R72 filter on a Tamron Adaptall 17A 35-70 f3.5 lens also used the 01B 24mm as well. downside is the adaptors are getting scarce and sometime are more expensive than the lenses, if you buy one per lens that is.
