Agreed, superb lens! I've got a spare one, but I'm not going to sell it for this sort of price

I know, it's killing me to sell it at this price. It's even more annoying that nobody has snapped it up at this price!

Hi there.
Sorry, complete Pentax noob here (don't even have my camera yet, should be here tomorrow!)...
How does this 50mm compare the cheaper 500mm 1.8??
Thank you.

Mike.

Hi Transit

it's a cheapo one around £90, the "smc DA 50mm F1.8".
Sorry, I'm not properly up to speed on all of the Pentax naming conventions, does that identify it uniquely? Or do I need more info on it?

Cheers,
Mike.

Yep that identifies it
Have a wee web search, it's all been said I spose

The F50/1.7 that this gentleman is selling for such a good price
will cover the film sized sensor that is soon to appear
It may also have a special character
that the modern clinical glass might lack.
A bit like records vs CDs

The DA 50mm 1.8 is a good lens but with a plastic mount and no aperture ring and feels cheap
The f50mm 1.7 is a great lens with the metal mount and aperture ring and does not feel as cheap and for the money here it is a no brainer IMHO
