The last time I sent a camera with lithium batteries one was allowed in the equipment (as long as it could not accidentally switch on) plus two spares that would need to be carefully packed so the terminals could not be shorted.
The simple way is to ask at the post office as the advisory document I've just looked at runs to 27 pages.....

I tried a couple of weeks ago (Royal mail) with a couple of Nikon batteries and was told no unless they are in the device. I doubt things have changed in that time (especially where the Post Office are concerned)
Of course the person behind the counter may have been wrong but I am just passing the message along which may save the batteries being destroyed.
