No not TTL. Put it on green or red 'Auto', select your ISO (shown as ASA on the flash), and then set your camera to the corresponding F-stop.
For instance on the red auto setting, the flash below is set up for 400 ASA and f8. (The selector should be positioned on red auto, not TTL of course!)

I hope that's right! What I tend to do is stick it on 'M', put my camera on 200ISO, f8, and 1/100 (in M mode) and bounce the flash. Too dark? I go to f5.6. Too light? Go to f11. You can also tweak ISO of course. Once correct, there isn't much need to change settings if you are bouncing the flash.

The red/green modes also support program flash. Try setting the flash to one or other of them and the camera to P. When the flash is charged the camera should flick to the correct aperture and set a suitable sync speed. Aperture will be dependent on what ISO you have set in this scenario.
You may need to try turning the flash and camera on and off a few times, mine doesn't always sync first time but once the two are talking it works reliably.

I've had this sitting in my cupboard for about a year, was going to sell it today but decided I'll try it out properly once.
Can anyone tell me a simple, quick idiots guide to using it. I'd guess indoors with my kids to start with. I have a K-7.
here's what I've sumarised so far:
Auto Green and Auto Red settings where the green setting goes for less power and the red setting goes for higher power
Green greater depth of field
0.5-1m GREEN
3.5-7m RED ONLY
so if I want to take a photo of one of my kids at home, indoors what do Ihave to do/set/check on the flash & camera with flash set to TTL (I presume)?
thanks,
Pa.
