Pentax flashes are safe to use on all Pentax SLRs and DSLRs.
I'm afraid I don't know the 260SA, so Im not aware of what modes it has. You will surely be able to use it in Manual at least, I would think.
No doubt someone who owns one will be along in a while to put you straight.

Steve, some older flashes have a high trigger voltage so you need to be careful with that.
Canon's are very sensitive but I believe John(???) said that Pentax can go up to 200Volt but that it wasn't a smart idea to do that.
I found this list link
Pentax AF200SA is 7.65-7.72V, the 260 is from the same time link so it's very likely that the trigger voltage is the same.
ps. can we make a sticky with a list of helpful links?

Its a Pentax program flash, it has no auto/manual control, I think it was released with the Pentax P series Film camera bodies.
You would be wasting your money IMO, It will fire on your KX but only at full discharge. Pentax only have 2 flashes which will fully support your KX, the AF360FGZ and the AF540FGZ, there is of course the Samsung equivilent which are identical to the Pentax ones I have mentioned. There is one currently for sale in the classifieds for 150quid

I have the instructions with both the camera & flash, but there is no clear info - don't want to "cream-cracker" the camera!!!
