My recent internet based research has me informed that the A-50 1:1.2 is still manufactured NEW by Pentax on a special order basis, at a price below that of the used one referred to here. About the 450 quid mark.
Can Chris at SRS confirm this?

Aaaah, I may have jumped the gun on this one. On retracing my internet steps of a few weeks ago, I can't find any proof. Maybe I was dreaming....
My bdimitrov states that the lens was made from 1984-2004, with a special edition chrome version in 2000. Perhaps I was viewing old information and believing it to be current.
The information I vaguely remember (must have been after a few sherries), indicated the lens was being assembled in Taiwan, I think. Hoping I haven't caused the Pentax HQ server to crash from thousands of enquiries.
Regards

I saw it suggested recently somewhere (DPR forum?) that the lens was still being made on a special order basis. A photo of the lens was shown with a made in Vietnam sticker, whereas the original ones were made in Japan.

I've seen current Pentax Japan pricelists that show several FA lenses still in production to order, as well as the A50/1.2.
Most are the more esoteric lenses for which there is no DA equivalent (FA*600/4 etc), some are widely available (FA31/43/77 Ltd) and some are the more mundane (FA80-320 etc) which I guess are there to service those still using film cameras.
At any given time on eBay you'll find Far East sellers with stocks of A50/1.2's brand new - I've had my finger hover over the Buy-It-Now button many times but have so far resisited...

If that happened it would be a clue that there might still be a demand.Hoping I haven't caused the Pentax HQ server to crash from thousands of enquiries.
Are there any AF f1.2 lenses from any maker? Or is AF not precise enough to make it feasible?
Best regards, John

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

At least one as my friend with the 600/4 and the 18mm tilt shift lens had one...

I wouldn't fancy trying to focus an f1.2 lens manually without a split focussing screen...

Don't forget that the image will be brighter and because the DOF at f1.2 is so shallow it will snap in and out very sharply.

So glad my vague memories turned out to be true.(Taiwan, vietnam, same, same.) I'm afraid the hot blonde in the sports car the other night, was a dream...
Anyway, back to the a 50 1:1.2. Who wants one? Let's get a list together and see if we can get a container load.
