£5000-£6000 would be a very competitive price, it might press down some of the high-end fullframe DSLR.
Let see if it's true since the price is very low, but it would be a great stunt.

The sensor though will be most likely Kodak so a KAF-31600 31.6 MP CCD sensor link

Hi Stefan,

Yes that price is extremely competitive thogh as yet this is not confirmed by Pentax themselves but at least we have a definite date for release.
If it had arrived at that price earlier this year then i would have bought one instead of the K7!

I'm more concerned with the statement that Pentax will never produce a FF DSLR!!! All of those lenses wasted...

If that does turn out to be the case it will be a blow.

What a horrible thought! I cannot believe that there was no possibility that Pentax would ever produce a Full Frame DSLR. If it were true i would be devastated!
The only reason i bought the K7 was that it was a good enough stop-gap until the finally produced a FF camera!!!

Well now you can skip the intermediate stage of an FF DSLR and start saving up for a 645D instead

If this is true, I will spend my tuppence on the new 645D. Maybe the D refers to diesel.

This could be a good time to buy up some 645 lenses whilst the prices are low....

I still hold out some hope that Pentax will surprise us with a Full Frame LX-D.

Pentax have always maintained that they will not produce a full frame DSLR, so where is the surprise, and which lenses do you perceive as being wasted?

35 to 645 lens adaptor... 645d..... problem solved...

now I'm a lil po'd about the new kx gonna be tough to choose between that and the k7 for me....
if the video is good.... I'm gonna have a tough time convincing Gerri to splurge on the k7...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I had one wasted lens - the 24-90. But I gained some longer telephotos at no cost, sold the 24-90 and bought a 16-50, and then acquired a wide zoom. All the other lenses are fine.

Never understood this obsession with so-called full-frame. Seems more like resistance to change.

At first I wanted full frame because we had lost the ultra-wide angle lenses.

But then the 12-24mm was introduced and all was well again. I wouldn't really need anything wider than 18mm on film, so the new zoom fulfilled all requirements very comfortably.

The pixel count is fine at 14.6MP - no doubt eventually that will increase again.

So do I want bigger, heavier full frame cameras now? Not really.

About sixteen 35mm Pentax lenses just for starters, then five 3rd party Pentax fit lenses. That said, maybe my inner self knew Pentax would not do a FF. Hence a D700 with, 12-24, 24-70 and 70-200 all f/2.8 with a 1.7 TC.

The fact that they will finally launch the 645D is good news. Initially I thought, yep, I'll have one. Now, I won't. It's a lot of kit to carry if you consider wide to tele lenses and no super tele lens...as of today.

But it does prove that bigger sensors are better than little sensors.....
just as bigger negs etc gave better resolution etc etc etc.
