Pentax 18-135 WR

Is anyone using this ?

Since I now have and love my K-30 and the fact I can [ when fit enough ] go out and use it in all weather [ using the 18-55 ] I'm looking at expanding my WR Lenses .

At present I tend to use the Tamron 18-250 as my holiday do-everything lens . I very very rarely shoot at 'full stretch' and looking at past pics, 135 would probably work for me.

I ~may ~ be making a trip to the USA this summer hence considering the purchase of a new lens while I'm there. The price would be very tempting.

Any thoughts ?

Yes - My daughters boyfriend

I gave it to him to try out on a K5 a few months ago and he's absolutely loving it. I tried it for a few weeks first and found it to be very versatile, optically much better than I expected - I would definitely recommend it as an "all rounder"

It's a terrific lens, and I shoot most of my general images with it.

There are lots of users on this forum and EPZ.
Best regards, John

It's a lens I've found myself using far more than I thought I would. I got it as a bad-weather all-in-one, thinking that it would do when I really wanted the camera and had to compromise on image quality. It's much better than I was expecting and so now lives on my k30 as my "grab and go" lens - I've no worries about image quality for most uses.

Thanks folks

That's confirmed what I was thinking . I suspect that I'll be putting a few lenses up for sale soon

My little store will have to be ' pruned ', albeit reluctantly - the month of June is going to be expensive but fun

I use it a lot - it tends to live on the camera. Image quality is really good for a lens of its type.

Just remember to add state tax to any USA quoted price which can put as much as 20% on the price, unless you go to Alaska where they dont have any.

Since the time I'll be there there will be things like Graduation Day sales promotions I should be OK .

My host will be watching carefully - and if it comes up at the right price before I go over he will buy it for me - he's very careful with his purchases and I'll happily take his advice.

I'm now watching Fares for my flight

Travel Aer Lingus via Dublin. You clear US immigration there and effectively come off a domestic flight at JFK or O'Hare. When I went on Boxing Day there were no queues at all but 3 hours at Chicago immigration and 1.5 at NYC. Bliss! It was also the cheapest fare going without an eight hour or something wait somewhere

That's exactly what I intend doing since I'm in Dublin the first weekend in June and have to be there on the 22nd as well

I was stunned when I got the invitation to go over - it's been too long since my host and I met so we intend to have a great time - lots of liturgical type photo stuff - his speciality So I'll be learning a lot.

Working things out so there's a minimum of luggage going with me, and yet enough for basically 3 weeks, will be fun.
