Pentax 12-24 New or Used?

Although I've never used them myself, I've heard little wrong with B&H's service. The one thing to check is where you stand re: warranty.
It's also worth searching for used Samsung badged variants of the 12-24 (you're unlikely to find one new). There was a period where Currys were selling these off for £199(!), and as a result they crop up used every now and then.

If you're not in any rush they do appear on here now & again, you should pick one up for somewhere around £400 with a bit of luck - brilliant lens BTW!!

i would check out srs they have a couple on at £599 used with 6 months warranty and will will have been checked thoroughly.

I don't remember ever reading any horror stories about the 12-24, mine certainly seems sturdily built (and happens to be wonderful) so I can't think of any reason to avoid a used example.

I usually buy camera bodies new and lenses second-hand.
That said, both my K20s were bought second-hand from forum members, so it's not a hard and fast rule.
But lenses usually sell for a discount of around 30% second-hand, and in excellent condition, so I only buy a lens new when there are none on the second-hand market.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I guess I'll wait and watch until the weather improves and see if anything comes up. The B&H price is still quite compelling thought and if the Dollar slips against the pound I may get the CC card out!
