PDCU 4

A few days back I went to use PDCU 4.?? and it failed to initialise and came up with an error. Fortunately it was running on my other PC.

Rebooted PC, same problem.

Did a remove and re-install - same problem.

Removed and installed latest version 4.40 same problem.

I went through maybe 10 different ways - using PDCU uninstall, Windows Remove Program, PDCU Repair and I could not get it running.

I needed something on this PC so I dug out the CD for PDCU 3 which install and ran. So I could use that if necessary.

Then I installed 4.11 which then worked, followed by the 4.40 upgrade again working. I then uninstalled PDCU 3 leaving just 4.40 and it continues to work.

Any thoughts or ideas what may have happened?

Sounds like you either had a corrupted .dll file, and/or a rogue registry entry. If you have a lot of detritus on the pc, parts of a program get "entangled" in the mess, and you get problems such as this.

Try going into SYSTEM TOOLS (dependent upon which version of Win you have), and then click on DISK CLEANUP. It wouldn't do you any harm to do a DEFRAG once you've dumped the dross from your hard-drive either.
